Tyrol
Tyrol relates to the mountains in a way few other regions do. And there is nothing to wonder at: Tyrol is the region of mountains par excellence!
Except the narrow valleys, the whole region is covered by hills, mountains and plateaus. A real wonderland for hikers, mountainbikers and climbers.
Geography subdivides Tyrol into two separated parts. The area between South Tyrol and Carinthia is called East Tyrol and is known for its capital Lienz and the Hohe Tauern mountain range. Larger North Tyrol, on the other hand, is characterised by the Inn river and its picturesque capital Innsbruck. The highest summits of Tyrol are the Zillertal Alps, Oetztal Alps and the Silvretta mountains.
