Kühtai
Right at the heart of the Stubai Alps, in the beautiful Sellraintal valley, lies the highest located winter sport resort of Austria.
Altitude: 2,020 m asl
With only 13 permanent inhabitants the village might be among the smallest ones ever but has, nevertheless, a lot to offer. Nature lovers and especially those who love hiking definitely get their money’s worth. When the alpine roses are in bloom again - mostly from the middle to the end of June -, the surrounding slopes shine in a romantic red atmosphere. Numerous hiking trails and forest roads lead you to the most stunning panoramic points. The Drei-Seen cable car keeps its doors open even in summer - from the end of June to the end of September - and takes you to an ideal starting point for high-altitude excursions.
But Kühtai is above all a renowned ski resort. The Kühtai cable car takes you to an altitude of 2,529 m asl, where 44 km of ski runs lead down to the village again. Whether you prefer skiing, snowboarding, carving, sledging or whatsoever - this will be fun for the whole family! Moreover, several hotels are situated right in front of the ski runs. And by the way: thanks to the village’s high-alpine location the slopes are snow-covered until late spring.
