Walchsee - Kaiserwinkl

In the heart of the holiday area Kaiserwinkl in North Tyrol, there is Lake Walchsee, a popular excursion destination in summer months.

The four villages Kössen, Walchsee, Schwendt and Rettenschöss are comprised by the popular holiday area of Kaiserwinkl. Located at the border to Germany, the centre of this region is the 24 degree C warm Lake Walchsee, a very popular lake for bathing. Also sailing, windsurfing and water skiing are possible in this region. In cold winter months, however, there are two little skiing areas and about 140 km of ski slopes, making Walchsee - Kaiserwinkl a winter sports paradise.

A particular event in the holiday region is the Kaiserwinkl Alpine Ballooning, which takes place in winter. Lake Walchsee, a white snow mantle that covers the entire Kaiserwinkl area and a sea of colourful hot air balloons rising into the sky, a real must-see.
