Bozen und Umgebung Winter 2011

Bolzano & surroundings

Bolzano is the capital of South Tyrol and with its 100,000 inhabitants a true city - according to South Tyrolean proportions.

Numerous cultures clash together, in particular the Italian and German culture. Did you know that Bolzano is also called “City of the 1,000 dialects”? A must for every visitor of Bolzano is the Archeologic Museum featuring the legendary Ice Man, Ötzi.

In sharp contrast to the city are its surroundings, boasting popular and rich green recreation areas such as San Genesio or Renon (pic). Worth seeing are the earth pyramids of Salto and the sunny plateau of Renon. And even Val Sarentino boasts its very special charm.
