St. Walburg Winter 2011

S. Valburga

Start off in the village of Lana, continue across Val d’Ultimo and the second village you come to is friendly S. Valburga.

Altitude: 1,190 m asl

Long times ago, the village of S. Valburga - or St. Walburg in German - was built on a gentle rolling hill, where still today a quaint little church may be found.

Today, the farms and houses of S. Valburga are widely spread throughout the surrounding area and until the banks of the Zoggler artificial lake. Lovers of culture and arts can look forward to the rare wooden buildings and ancient farmhouses that characterize the village. The Gothic church of St. Moritz and the farm of Kuppelwies are said to be the oldest all over the valley.

The local hiking area boasts numerous trails in the middle of an untouched natural landscape. And in winter, the ski area of Schwemmalm is within easy reach - the new cable car starts in Pracupola. 18 km of ski slopes and 25 km of cross-country runs are great fun for the whole family!
