S. Cristina Valgardena

Half way between Ortisei and Selva Gardena lies the pretty holiday resort with the Sassolungo mountain group towering high above the village.

Santa Cristina (Ladin: S. Cristina Gherdëina) is the ideal place for both relaxing and adventurous holidays, with lots of fun and lots of choice for the whole family. Hikers and skiers can look forward to their own little paradise! In the village you will find several base stations taking you to the beautiful mountain worlds of Monte Pana, Ciampinoi, Col Raiser and Seceda.

A must for all lovers of art is the biggest wood-carved crib of the world - obviously made by local sculptures. The crib is exhibited in the Iman Sportcenter, which keeps its doors open throughout the whole year. And every year at Christmas time, a new life-sized figure is added to the collection.

In Santa Cristina you will also find the oldest church of the entire valley, the St Jacob’s church. And last but not least you might have a look at the fascinating sundial on the Monte Pana mountain.
