Cadipietra / Valle Aurina
Big stone houses characterise the village of Cadipietra in beautiful Valle Aurina.
Altitude: 1,054 m asl
In the 5th century, it served as the administrative centre of the local mining industry. But the boom of American copper mines resulted in a dead halt of the once flowering local mining industry. In 1893, the mines were closed. Today, the former corn bin hosts the local minery museum, which introduces the visitor to the hard life of mine workers.
The skiing area of Monte Chiusetta brought winter tourism into the village of Cadipietra and made the local economy flourishing. A gondola will take you to the ski runs and hiking trails of Monte Chiusetta, which will lead you even to the Zillertal Alps. And at an altitude of 2,150 m asl, the deep-blue waters of Lago Chiusetta provide a highly recommendable destination!
