Trento Trient Winter 2011

Trento

The area surrounding the capital of the Trentino region, Trento, stretches throughout the Val d’Adige Valley and includes the city of Trento, Monte Bondone and the Rotaliana Plain.

A broad valley bottom surrounded by beautiful mountains characterises the area. And it was this even terrain at 190 - 220 m asl as well as the Adige river that made the valley an important communication route between the north and the south even in the past. The city of Trento is particularly rich in history, culture and tradition. In the 16th century the city hosted the Council of Trento. Consequently, Trento got a new cityscape and the Castello del Buonconsiglio was built.

In addition to a lively citylife, you can look forward to numerous opportunities in the mountains with their colourful natural sceneries and a fresh clean air. There is for instance the Alpine botanic garden, the Tre Cime del Monte Bondone Nature Reserve or a beautiful wine-growing area. Nearby Italian- and German-speaking South Tyrol has greatly influenced traditions and life in Trento, which can be seen on numerous occasions. But if you really want to get to know the unique flair of Trento and Val d’Adige, you have to visit it yourself - enjoy it!
