Stretching throughout Upper Val di Non (Alta Val di Non) is the friendly village of Fondo.

The main village of Alta Val di Non is characterised by gentle hills and rich green meadows and boasts a truly breath-taking panorama of entire Val di Non. Known as a renowned climatic health resort in summer and winter alike, Fondo is surrounded by the sattles of Passo Palade and Passo Mendola and thus connected to near-by South Tyrol.

Definitely worth seeing is the Sas Gorge with depths of up to 50 m. Admire the gorge from a recently-built viewpoint and explore soughing waters, dynamic water falls and mystic grottos. The Fondo Botanic Garden in Bersaglio provides e.g. a stunning view of Lake Smeraldo and is home to 400 differed kinds of plants and animals.

The more energetic can look forward to several facilities and activities, ranging from free climbing and sports halls to fitness trails, ice climbing, ice skating, snow-shoeing and ski touring. A very special event takes place in winter: the so-called “Ciaspolada”, a snow-shoeing competition, attracts some 6,000 athletes and enthusiasts every year.
