Levico Terme
At the bottom of Monte Fronte you will find the lovely municipality of Levico Terme.
Altitude: 506 m asl
Situated on a rich green hill - once formed by the Rio Maggiore - Levico Terme includes the villages of Chiesa, Furo, Grande, Cortina, Oltrebrenta and Selva. Levico Terme boasts a rich variety of sport and free time activities, ranging from cycling and mountain biking to horse riding, mini golf, paragliding, hang-gliding and much more. Unspoilt nature, an enchanting mountain scenery, the near-by lakes and a mild climate are ideal to explore the fascinating surroundings - and spend some recreative and relaxing holidays! Apropos recreation: the therapeutic waters of Levico and Vetriolo are famous all over the world. The local springs boast healing properties due to their iron and arsenic contents and originate at an altitude of 1,500 m. Diseases such as asthenia and lasting exhaustion are treated with mud baths, various types of inhalation or balneotherapy.
Definitely worth mentioning is also the “Oasi Rifugio Inghiaie”, a WWF protected habitat. On an area of 1,660 sqm, it provides an untouched natural environment to salamanders, grass snakes, mallards or even moorhens. Relax, watch and admire - that’s the motto. Even lovers of culture may look forward to particular sites of interest. There is, e.g., a Roman sarcophagus made from limestone, which is exhibited in the vicinity of the local railway station. And if this isn’t enough, you may explore the centuries-old ruin of Castel Selva.
Even in winter, Levico Terme has a lot to offer. Only 10 km away lies the most famous skiing area of the entire valley, the Panarotta. Enjoy carefree moments in an untouched environment!
