By the way: Have you ever heard of the so-called “Steinmandln”? Well, “Steinmandln” actually are piles of stones that represent little men. This hiking tradition dates back to long passed times. Hikers then depended on the friendliness of the people living in the mountains, above all when thunderstorms or other dangers came up. To thank them for their friendliness and hospitality, the hikers started to build little men made of stones right under the peaks of the mountains. And every hiker who passed by added another stone. The “Steinmandln” were born, which still today serve as signposts or sites of prayers and thanks. The stones at the top are believed to have therapeutic properties such as releasing energy to the surrounding area or balancing energy levels.
