And it is these mountains that you will cross if you embark on an Alpine crossing - suited to all levels of proficiency and through regions, you have never seen before. Every country organises carefully planned bike tours; the necessary maps and descriptions are available in the local travel agencies or tourism offices. Ever heard about the biggest cycling and biking arena of Europe? Since 2005, the so-called “3-Country Cycling and Biking Arena” provides a unique cultural landscape covering 3 countries: South Tyrol (Val Venosta), Switzerland (Engadin) and Austria (Resia Pass) boast a total of 120 bike tours with more than 2,000 km for touring. One common map, 4 different biking guides and a joint Internet platform provide detailed information about it.
Immerse yourself in the breath-taking mountain scenery as you pedal your way across the “Portes du Soleil” and the Maritime Alps or ride challenging routes in Kitzbühel, Graubünden, Alta Badia or the Dolomites, along Lake Tegernsee, the Svabian Alb or from the Julian Alps to the Adriatic Coast. Have fun and bike your way to good health! Travelling with bike & train is a fantastic way to combine the freedom of cycling from door to door with the comfort of train for longer distances. Take your bike on the highly modern train from the South Tyrolean city of Merano to Val Venosta and discover this enchanting valley! Also other countries, however, provide this service, which may come quite comfortable at times. Biking events take place everywhere and all around the year. Take a chance at the “Glocknerkönig” in the Hohe Tauern National Park in June or the “Bike Transalp Challenge” leading from the Allgäu region to famous Lake Garda…
By the way: biking in harmony with nature - this is what woods, meadows, hosts and even cyclists wish for. Thus, we ask you: stay on the respective cycling and mountain bike trails and respect your natural environment. Enjoy the world around you and allow others to do the same. Happy trails!
