A popular excursion is to the Hofer Mountain Hut above Umes, an alpine hut at 1,364 m a.s.sl. in the heart of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park.

The municipality of Fiè allo Sciliar is enthroned amidst the vast meadows and forests of the Sciliar region. The impressive mountain massif not only serves as an unforgettable backdrop during a stay, but is also the landmark of Fiè and the entire South Tyrol: The mountain silhouette, which is also depicted in the South Tyrol logo, shows the mighty Sciliar with its Punta Santner and Punta Euringer peaks. Together with the nearby Siusi Alp, this creates a wonderful hiking and climbing area in summer and a skiing area in winter. In Fiè itself, the Aica di Fiè Farm Trail, or "Oachner Höfeweg", shows you the surroundings.

The landscape here is particularly impressive, ranging from the vineyards on the slopes above the Valle Isarco up to dense coniferous forests and the rugged peaks of the Dolomites. Documentary records of Fiè have existed since the 9th century, although its origins probably go back much further (4th millennium BC). A particularly valuable find is a musical instrument that resembles a flute: It is the oldest musical instrument found in South Tyrol. Oswald von Wolkenstein is also a name you will hear often here: The minnesinger is still celebrated every year at the Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride, one of the largest equestrian spectacles in South Tyrol. A few years ago, Fiè allo Sciliar was declared a climatic health resort.

There are many places of interest in the clear mountain air, including cultural treasures like Presule Castle, family destinations such as the Tuff Hut and nature highlights like the Fiè Pond. Fiè attaches particular importance to its cuisine, one of South Tyrol's gourmet restaurants with 3 Gault Millau toques is located here. The delicacies of the Sciliar and Alpe di Siusi areas are celebrated during the "Schlerngenuss" Culinary Weeks in early summer, and the "Kuchlkastl" festival in autumn.
