With the Local Museum Tannheimer Valley and Felixe Mina’s House, Tannheim offers two cultural highlights

Tannheim, located at more than 1,000 m a.s.l., is the main village of the eponymous valley, which is crossed by the Vils river. The municipality and the entire valley have been awarded with the seal of approval for its excellent drinking water and the pure air. Furthermore, all villages of the Tannheimer Valley have joined the "Klimabündnis Tirol", that's to say the Climate Alliance Tyrol.
Doubtlessly the surroundings live up to the expectations you might have regarding a beautiful alpine landscape: Lake Vilsalpsee and its waterfall in the eponymous nature reserve are within one hours' reach from the village. Above it, at 1,631 m a.s.l., there's Lake Traualpsee, a small artificial lake, whereas the Tannheimer Valley Cycle Route snakes its way through the landscape down in the valley. It is connected to the MTB trail Alter Gaichtpass at Nesselwängle, and to the MTB trail through the Vilstal valley to Pfronten in the Allgäu at Schattwald.
If you are interested in culture, Tannheim offers even two museums: One of them is the Local Museum Tannheimer Valley in the locality of Kienzen, which tells the history of the valley. Part of the exhibition are plenty of photos, furthermore you can admire old musical instruments, tools and the rooms of the building. The second museum is called Felixe Mina's House, a listed farmhouse with a unique story which is worth listening to...
